Sometimes our patients in El Paso find it difficult to talk about urinary incontinence or other problems with their pelvic floor. They may come in for a wellness exam or a skin treatment and then shyly ask why they leak when they laugh. At InVogue Rejuvenation & Body Sculpting Center, these are topics we cover with our patients all the time, and we have a device we can use, called VTone, to bring our patients more comfort and security, with a stronger pelvic floor and fewer leaks.
What Does Pelvic Floor Health Include?
The pelvic floor is a group of muscles at the base of your abdomen. They are crucial for many functions in the body and support your overall health when they are working well.
Core Stability
Your pelvic floor works with your deep abdominal and back muscles to support your spine and pelvis. When it becomes weak, you may notice lower back discomfort or feel less stable when you lift or bend.
Organ Support
These muscles form a hammock that holds your bladder, uterus and bowel in place. Weak support leads to a heavy or dragging sensation in the pelvis and can eventually contribute to pelvic organ prolapse.
Bladder Control
Pelvic floor muscles help open and close the urethra. Good control means you decide when to empty your bladder. Weak control leads to leaks during a sneeze or a sudden urge that sends you rushing to the bathroom.
Sexual Wellness
Stronger muscles improve sensitivity and confidence during intimacy. Often, changes in sexual wellness can be seen alongside improved bladder control since the same muscle group supports both.
What Is VTone?
VTone is an FDA-cleared treatment that strengthens the pelvic floor using intravaginal electrical muscle stimulation, or EMS. We use a small lubricated applicator to deliver gentle electrical impulses that make the pelvic floor muscles contract. The device retrains muscles that you may struggle to activate on your own. VTone treats stress, urge and mixed urinary incontinence and other concerns caused by a weak pelvic floor. Each session lasts 20-30 minutes with no incisions and no recovery time. The treatment itself feels similar to Kegels, except the contractions are involuntary.
Signs Your Pelvic Floor May Need Support From VTone
You may benefit from VTone if you notice any of the following:
- Leaking During Everyday Activities: Urine escapes when you cough, sneeze, laugh, lift or exercise.
- Sudden Urgent Bathroom Trips: A strong urge arrives with little warning and is hard to hold back.
- Frequent Nighttime Waking: You get up several times a night to urinate and lose sleep.
- Pelvic Heaviness or Pressure: You feel a dragging sensation, often worse after standing a long time.
- Reduced Sensation During Intimacy: A weaker tone lowers sensitivity and affects your experience.
- Lingering Symptoms After Childbirth: Bladder or pelvic changes from pregnancy have not resolved on their own.
How VTone Goes Beyond Self-Directed Exercises
Kegel exercises help, but many women contract the wrong muscles or cannot feel the right ones. Because you cannot see the pelvic floor, correct technique is hard to learn. VTone activates the muscles for you, so the right ones are targeted during each session. In one randomized trial published in the Journal of Physiotherapy, 36 percent of women who could not voluntarily contract their pelvic floor muscles gained this ability after eight weeks of intravaginal electrical stimulation, compared with 12 percent who received no treatment.
What the Research Says About Electrical Stimulation for Pelvic Floor Strength
Electrical muscle stimulation has been studied for decades in pelvic health. A 2024 scoping review in Clinical and Experimental Obstetrics & Gynecology found that EMS improves symptoms of stress, urge and mixed urinary incontinence and supports quality of life in women with these conditions. VTone is in a recognized category of conservative, nonsurgical care.
Everyday Habits That Will Support Your VTone Results
Results last longer when daily habits protect your pelvic floor. Drink enough water, since concentrated urine irritates the bladder and worsens urgency. Limit caffeine, alcohol and carbonated drinks, which are common bladder triggers. You should always treat constipation early so you avoid straining, and add low-impact movement like walking or Pilates instead of habits that spike abdominal pressure. Your provider may also recommend six to eight sessions spaced over several weeks, plus occasional maintenance visits.
A Few FAQs About VTone
Is VTone Covered By Insurance?
Coverage varies by plan and by your diagnosis. Some insurers cover pelvic floor treatment for urinary incontinence, while others treat it as elective. Contact our office, and we can review your options before you commit.
Will VTone Affect Sexual Sensation?
A stronger pelvic floor can improve sensitivity and comfort during intimacy. Many patients notice this alongside better bladder control. VTone also pairs well with FormaV and Morpheus8V.
How Is VTone Different From At-Home Kegel Devices?
At-home devices depend on you finding and contracting the right muscles correctly. VTone stimulates those muscles directly, so the correct ones activate every session. Every treatment is guided by a trained provider who can adjust your plan when necessary. This supervision is not available with at-home devices.
Can VTone Work for Women Who Have Not Given Birth?
Childbirth is one common cause of pelvic floor weakness, but aging, menopause, high-impact exercise and chronic straining affect women who have never been pregnant. VTone helps anyone with weakened pelvic floor muscles and related symptoms.
