What Can I Expect from Treatment?
Treatments are relatively fast, usually taking less than an hour for the face. While the scrubbing is firm, the procedure is not uncomfortable, and in fact, many patients find it pleasant. The procedure is completely safe, with no significant side effects; however, the skin may be tender after the treatment, so users should apply lots of sunscreen and avoid applying chemical peels or other potential irritants for a few days afterward. Moisturizing creams or makeup can typically be applied immediately after a microdermabrasion treatment, and the procedure may make creams or serums more effective.
Results are not usually permanent since the skin cells will inevitably regrow, but the treatment can be repeated regularly. Each patient’s skin cells will regrow at a different rate, so the frequency of procedures should be determined by your dermatologist.
